This is where the cats talk, share tongues, and eat prey. The wall is a place for young cats to practice balancing, and the stairs lead up to the territory of LightningClan.

Palmstar sat regally in the clearing, her shining white fur gleaming in the sunlight. She rotated her vast ears, picking up who was where. She scented the air, and noted every cat in the clearing. "Who wants to go on a patrol with me? Moonpaw, Blackpaw, and Shadeheart, if you please?" She knew Shadeheart wouldn't be very excited about going on patrol, but she wanted him to pull his own weight in the Clan. The two apprentices still had to learn the lay of the LightningClan land.

Shadeheart stood and stretched his long black body out with a lazy yawn. "Do I really have to?" he groaned. He curled his tail around his paws and slouched lazily. He had weaseled out of yesterdays patrol but he doubted his luck for todays.
------
Moonpaw stood and walked over to Palmstar. She had been thinking deeply when her leader's call broke her train of thought. She merely nodded her consent. She was ready to get out anyhow.

Palmstar's eyes became serious as she felt the lazy energy radiating from him. Moonpaw had a curiously high energy, like always, and others varied, depending on their alertness. "Yes, Shadeheart, you must." She mewed sharply to the black tom.

Shadeheart instantly dipped his head respectfully. "Y-Yes, Palmstar," he mewed nervously. He straightened and his nervousness disappeared. "Has anyone ever told you how scary you are?" His lazy drawl showed had a teasing and rather affectionate tone for his leader. "I'm honestly surprised your apprentice hasn't ran away already," he mewed with a sincere look in his green eyes.

Palmstar slightly smiled. "I know, I must scare the wits out of everybody-Blindness is extremely frightening; The fact that I can't see what cats are doing is terribly scary." She mewed. Her head suddenly turned to trap a little kit in its gaze. "Littlekit, put that mouse back on the fresh-kill pile! You've already had your share." The kit sulkily put the mouse back on the pile, returning to the nursery.

"No, that's what's scary..." Shadeheart muttered before stretching again with a long yawn. He flicked his tail towards Blackpaw. "Come on, let's go," He mewed.
---------
Moonpaw padded over to Blackpaw with a rather shy look. "H-Hi Blackpaw..." she mewed a bit shyly. "Maybe she could be my friend..." she thought hopefully.

Blackpaw nodded wearily, her muddled, washed-out black fur dulled with lack of washing. What was the use, if nobody cared? "Hi, Moonpaw." She mewed, her voice it's average lackluster tone.

Moonpaw eyed her clanmate for a moment and her eyes narrowed. She spoke in an odd voice that didn't seem like her own. "Maybe, if you cared more about yourself more cats would try to befriend you. Anyways. we're both outcasts and we might as well make the best of it. If you want to be friends, we can be but if you want to be all alone, that's your desion." She turned and walked back over to stand by Palmstar.

Blackpaw's eyes widened at Moonpaw's little speech. Anger filled her, outraged that Moonpaw dared to take such a superior tone, and she whirled away. "Maybe I would be your friend if you didn't tell me what to do!" She yowled, her features noticably twisted with anger, and ran into the forest. She could hear the blood pulsing in her ears, and she didn't quit running for awhile.

Moonpaw ran after Blackpaw staying close. Hopelessness quickly consumed her and she felt like something was clawing her insides. She didn't know why she said things like that to others but she lost her chances of getting a friend everytime. It felt like something else took over her and she couldn't stop herself from talking. "Blackpaw! Wait!" She called out, sadness filling her tone. "Didn't mean too... S-Sorry..." She mewed pitifully.

Blackpaw slowed down a bit, still unsure of this strange apprentice. "What do you want?" She spat sullenly, her voice betraying her inner bewilderment and hurt. "I just want to go hunting, so unless you have something important to say, why don't you just leave me alone?"

Moonpaw sighed, looking down. "Sorry... Didn't mean to be mean... Me, you, friends?" She asked hopefully. Then, she began to walk away, tail and head down. There was no way the other she-cat would want to be her friend.

"Sure." Blackpaw mewed, suprising even herself. "As hurtful as your words were, they were true. We are both outsiders, and we should stick together. heck, in a few moons, I may even LOOK like you!" She looked at her rapidly changing fur ruefully. Darker rosettes were like shadows, and she wondered if she would have spots some day.

Moonpaw smiled happily at the she-cat, no her friend. "Palmstar would probably have to change your name then," She purred. She was ecstatic and by the time Shadeheart and Palmstar caught up to them, she was bouncing around cheerfully, batting at sn unfortunate leaf brave enough to cross her path.
